New Travelogue Page!

Our first official outing in Mexico City happened shortly after we arrived here on December 23. That was a while ago now. Since no travelogue is complete (in my opinion) without pictures, I required the arrival of our container of contents to add photos to these posts. Of course, in the chaos of packing up, I inadvertently packed the USB data cable used to transfer my photos from camera to computer – I guess I figured it needed a four month adventure… 🙂  Trying to locate another one here in the meantime was very futile and frustrating. So now that I’ve finished unpacking and found it (yeah!!) I can begin to detail a little of our adventures and to share some of the views of the country. Something that we are striving for, although not always possible with “real life” to lead here as well, (let me assure you, this is NOT constant vacation!!!) is to do some exploring to grow to appreciate this country we are borrowing some space in for a little while. My own family had to uproot when I was 10 and I found the transition very difficult. We moved from Calgary Alberta to Barrie Ontario, leaving behind all of our family and friends. One of the things my parents did, recognizing that it was a struggle for me to get my feet under me again, was to explore our new province as a family. A sales pitch of sorts. We visited Niagara Falls, Marine Land, the BIG city Toronto, we went to find apples in Collingwood in the Fall, experiencing breathtaking Georgian Bay views, and learned about Maple Syrup production in the spring. Mom enjoys reminding us of our first glimpse of the Blue Mountains – “MOUNTAINS?” we scoffed, having up to that point, lived near Banff and the Rockies. WE know a mountain, and this ain’t one!:) We learned to skate and to swim, very important skills to have in Ontario. We took many walks along Barrie’s beautiful waterfront and always went to see the fireworks on July 1st. These adventures and many more all helped me grow to adore Ontario. Perhaps we too, as a family, here and now in Mexico, will someday grow to love this place!

Patience is the name of this game!

I invite you to check out the new Travelogue page to share in some of the adventures we have been on so far… I will continue to update, so check back often!

Note: The Travelogue page is located on the “Maples in Mexico” official site – it will appear under “Menu” or across the top horizontal menu under the main title!
